{"id":94841,"date":"2022-05-18T14:36:39","date_gmt":"2022-05-18T09:06:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icsf.net\/?post_type=newss&#038;p=94841"},"modified":"2022-05-18T14:36:39","modified_gmt":"2022-05-18T09:06:39","slug":"in-the-fight-against-climate-change-seaweed-could-be-a-surprising-but-vital-weapon","status":"publish","type":"newss","link":"https:\/\/www.icsf.net\/newss\/in-the-fight-against-climate-change-seaweed-could-be-a-surprising-but-vital-weapon\/","title":{"rendered":"In the fight against climate change, seaweed could be a surprising \u2014 but vital \u2014 weapon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With concerns about the environment, food security and climate change mounting, this wet, edible treasure of the sea \u2014 of which there are many varieties and colors \u2014 could have a major role to play in the sustainable future of our planet, and the U.K. wants in on the act.<\/p>\n<p>Toward the end of April, a project dubbed the U.K.\u2019s \u201cfirst dedicated seaweed industry facility\u201d celebrated its official opening, with those involved hoping it will help kickstart the commercialization of a sector that\u2019s well established in other parts of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Seaweed Academy, as it\u2019s known, is located near the Scottish town of Oban.
