The Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR), One Ocean Hub and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) will organize an online dialogue series that will explore how national and international human rights actors are using their respective mandates to promote and protect the rights of small-scale fishers, fish workers and their communities<\/strong>. The ambition is to better understand current engagement and to explore opportunities for deepening their engagement and collaboration between the different actors.<\/p>\n

The first webinar <\/strong>will focus\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0role\u00a0of\u00a0national\u00a0human\u00a0rights\u00a0institutions<\/strong>. NHRI representatives will share examples of applying their NHRI mandate to address the human rights abuses and violations affecting small-scale fishers and indigenous peoples. Other key actors will contribute to the following discussion on possible measures for strengthening this engagement.<\/p>\n

The second webinar<\/strong> will focus\u00a0on\u00a0protecting\u00a0the\u00a0human\u00a0rights\u00a0of\u00a0small-scale\u00a0fishers\u00a0through\u00a0international\u00a0human\u00a0rights\u00a0mechanisms<\/strong>.
