The Royal Falkland Islands’ Police have reported that three fishermen are missing from a Taiwanese jigger. The vessel reported crew members missing early on Saturday, 15 February and the Fisheries Department alerted the Royal Falkland Islands Police shortly after
According to a press release, the missing crewmen had last been seen aboard at 4.30pm Friday February 14, when the jigger was approximately 18 miles from the Port William reporting line – a straight line from Mengeary Point to Cape Pembroke.
Having noticed the crewmen missing at 1900hrs a search of the vessel was undertaken with no sign of the crewmen. Surmising the men were overboard, the vessel attempted to retrace its route in search of them.

At 8am on the next day the jigger arrived in Stanley harbour, where Royal Falkland Islands Police interviewed the crew.

After the Royal Falkland Islands Police cleared the vessel for departure it returned to a location 14 miles from the north-east coast of East Falkland, where it seems most likely that the crewmen left the vessel. The vessel will remain in this location for 72 hours.
