The Patancheru MLA said they have a ready land bank to construct the fish market. Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav granted Rs 50 lakh for the construction of a fish market at Patancheru on Sunday. The move comes after local MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy raised the hardships that fishermen face due to the lack of fish markets in the constituency. The Patancheru MLA said they have a ready land bank to construct the fish market. On the sidelines, Yadav said families of those fishermen who die while at work will get Rs 6 lakh ex gratia. He said the State government was taking up several initiatives for the betterment of backward classes in Telangana, who depended on traditional occupations. The Minister held a sensitisation programme with the fishermen and Yadav communities to make them aware about the welfare schemes that the government introduced for them. Saying that the government increased the budget allocations considerably in the last couple of years for the Fisheries Department, Srinivas Yadav said it will further increase it to release fingerlings to each and every irrigation tank in the State. It will also help the fisher folk to market their catch every day by arresting the involvement of middlemen. Detailing about the sheep distribution prorgamme initiative by the government, the Minister said they will spend Rs 4,000 crore to distribute 84 lakh sheep to the Yadav community. Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Bhupal Reddy, Commissioners of Fishers Department Suvarana, MD Venkateshwarlu and others were present.
