A Task Force to enforce the Fisheries Act has been inaugurated in Accra, Ghana. The Task Force which is the brain child of the Ministries of Defense and Food and Agriculture is empowered to mount surveillance within a radius of two kilometers from any shore or river.

It can enter, search and seize illegal equipment, explosives as well as poison that can potentially be used to flout the Act.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwesi Ahwoi, said the Task Force will go all out to check illegal fishing activities.
