Representatives from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), the Fisheries Union, the scientific community, and academia are gathering for the 4th World Small-Scale Fisheries Congress in St. John’s.

The three-day gathering is bringing together some 180 participants to discuss fisheries and ocean sustainability in North America and beyond.

Next week marks the 30th anniversary of the cod moratorium.

Co-Chair of the International Organizing Committee, Evan Andrews says the theme of this year’s conference is Getting it Right.

The discussion will center around getting things like adaptation, conservation, governance, aquaculture, the blue economy, and the future of the fishery right.
