An official session of talks between the Sultanate and the Federative Republic of Brazil was held at the Council of Ministers HQs’ in Muscat 1 April.
The Omani side was led by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, while the Brazilian side was led by Michel Temer, Vice-President of Brazil. HH Sayyid Fahd began the meeting by welcoming the guest and his accompanying delegation.
Michel Temer said that he had the honour of meeting His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and listening to His Majesty’s wise views. He expressed admiration of the achievements made by the Sultanate and that both countries ‘ views towards many international stances were identical.
On his part, the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers reviewed the existing co-operation relations between the two countries and the positive dimensions on each of them.
He pointed out to the importance of pushing forward the march of co-operation in all fields including education, health, research and sport, as well as the exchange of expertise and successful experiences.
HH Sayyid Fahd highlighted the importance of expanding the fields of bilateral co-operation in agriculture, animal and fisheries sectors. The talks session also covered issues that enhance the bilateral relations in all spheres, especially industry, tourism, joint investment and encouraging the private sector to enhance trade co-operation.
The meeting also discussed regional and international issues and reviewed developments witnessed by the region and the ongoing efforts to contain their implications to achieve security and stability.
The talks session was attended from the Brazilian side by the accredited ambassador of Brazil to the Sultanate, Under-Secretary-General for Co-operation, Culture and Trade Promotion at Brazilian Ministry of External Relations, Frederico Arruda, Head of the Diplomatic Affairs of the Brazilian Presidency Office, Minister Responsible for the Middle East Division at the Minister of External Relations, Chairman of Protocol, Diplomatic Adviser to the Vice-President of the Republic, Parliamentary Assistant for the Vice-President of the Republic and the 1st Secretary of the Brazilian Embassy in the Sultanate.
Later in the evening, HH Sayyid Fahd hosted a dinner in honour of Michel Temer at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel. The dinner was attended by their highnesses, ministers, advisers, State’s senior officials and heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate.
