Dr. Aung Gyi, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, announced that Myanmar boasts the third-largest mangrove coverage globally, surpassing 120 other countries.

He made this statement on June 8 during a coordination meeting in Myeik City, where the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, and Taninthayi Region fishery entrepreneurs gathered to discuss research activities on fisheries.

Myanmar’s mangrove coverage spans over 300,000 acres in Myeik District, securing its position as the third-highest globally.
