Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying minister Parshottam Rupala today said fisherman will be given cards like Kishan Credit Card. He was speaking at Digha in West Bengal while attending a programme of Sagar Parikrama Phase XII. He told that fishermen will get benefits like farmers through this card. Rupala informed 150 crore rupees have been allocated under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana for Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. Central government has also allocated 45 crore rupees for Shankarpur fish port.

Minister told that the central government is looking into the problems faced by fishermen there for drying of fish. He also told that both the central and state government are working jointly for the redevelopment of sea banks which were destroyed by Tsunami.

The journey of first phase of “Sagar Parikrama” started from Mandvi, Gujarat on 5th March 2022 and so far, the total eleven phases of Sagar Parikrama have been covered in the coastal States/UTs of Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Andaman & Nicobar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Odisha. It will end at Gangasagar of South 24 Parganas tomorrow. Minister interacted with fishermen and their various organisations at Digha and discussed in detail about various initiatives of the Central Government for the benefits of fishermen.
