The National Fishworkers Forum (NFF) has urged the Indian government to drop the reported move to commission the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project in the south Indian State of Tamil Nadu.

A resoution to this effect was adopted at the National Executive Committee and General Body Meeting of the forum which concluded in Puducherry.

Another resolution urged the Centre to drop all new nuclear power projects.

Resolutions urging the Centre to withdraw the FDI in retail, implementation of coastal security schemes, setting up of separate Ministry for Fishermen and provision of compensation to fishermen missing in sea among others were adopted at the meeting, according to a forum press release here today.
