The Kerala State Fishermen Federation has opposed the Kochi Skycity project.
In a release, Unnivalath, president of the federation, said that the project, which will be built over the Chilavannur backwaters in the south Indian State of Kerala, will have an adverse impact on the ecology of the region. He said that the pillars to be constructed as part of the project on the kayal will hamper the smooth flow of water and step up pollution in the backwaters.
The federation has pointed out that the fish wealth in the region will be affected, if the project becomes a reality. It has urged the government not sanction the project.
