In order to make the participants realise the importance of the theme, this year’s show aims to highlight technological advances and sustainable practices in the aquaculture sector, officials revealed. As India expects to achieve 20 per cent growth in seafood exports this fiscal and targets to take it to $10 billion by 2020, this can be achieved through safe and sustainable aquaculture, organisers of the show believe. Entrepreneurs in the sector and members of Seafood Exporters Association of India, the organising partner, hope that IISS 2016, like its previous editions, would offer immense opportunity to the participants to exchange ideas for mutual benefits and explore further possibility in strengthening business and trade relations. The Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA), a Government of India entity under the ministry of commerce and industry organises the IISS event every alternate year, in partnership with trade associations. Claimed to be an oldest and largest seafood shows in Asia, the very objective of the IISS is to showcase and highlight India’s immense fishery potential and the rapid progress made by the country in the fisheries sector.
