Goa Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado on Monday said he would urge the Chief Minister to take the help of the Coast Guard to curb use of LED lights in fishing. The Minister said he would direct the Collector to take action against trawlers violating the Marine Fishing Regulation Act 1980 and 1982 and using high speed engines above 300HP, and warned that the department would cancel their licences, if needed. The Minister on Monday met representatives of organisations representing traditional fishermen. They demanded action against bull trawling and trawlers using LED lights and high speed engines
