The State government is planning to give relief to traditional fishermen during the offseason when fishermen, who are totally dependent on fishing for their livelihood, are unable to venture to sea for fishing. “Government will address this issue by providing appropriate relief to traditional fishing communities, the Chief Minister told the Legislative Assembly in his Budget speech on Friday.The government has also enhanced the provision of VAT-based subsidy from Rs 16 crore to Rs 18 crore. Further the government has provided Rs 1 crore for purchase of outboard motors.
