Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar thanked Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for amending the crucial Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) notification, 2011, granting much needed relief to the beach shack operators as the structures can now be retained during the June-August monsoon season. Parrikar took on to tweeter to thank the MOEFCC Minister Anil Madhav Dave for amending the CZ notification. “Relief to shack owners in Goa, as dismantling and rebuilding (shacks) is no longer needed. I thank MOEFCC Minister Dave for amending the CRZ notification, he tweeted through is personal tweeter account @manoharparrikar, this morning. The Chief Minister’s Office too used the social media in thanking the Union Ministry. “Now shack owners need not dismantle and rebuild their structures every season, as MOEFCC accedes to Goa’s request to amend CRZ notification, the CMO office tweeted. The Union Ministry has carried out further amendments to the CRZ notification, 2011 to this effect, but a pre-condition is that the shacks remain non-operational during that period. Following several complaints from the shack operators that erecting and dismantling shacks every season is not economical and it affects their business dealings, the then BJP government had approached Centre for necessary relaxation. Accordingly, the Union Minister in April, last year had issued draft notification i M n this regard. The shack owners have welcomed the decision.
