The Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy has discussed the amendments to the Law on Fisheries.

Milli Majlis news service informs that the valid Law on Fisheries was adopted in 1998.

“The law defines the legal framework for fisheries, including aquaculture organization, management in this sphere, as well as increase and protection of fish and other living aquatic resources. Under the law, fishing facilities on the territory of municipalities are their property, and goods produced in the territories of aquaculture farms belong to the owners or leaseholders of the territory. Funding for artificial breeding, renewal and protection of fish and other bio resources in state-owned fish pools is carried out at the expense of public funds,” it was reported.

The amendments also provide for a special permit for sport fishing on the fishing sites, excluding protected areas and fishing economy.

The draft law is recommended for discussion at the plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament.
