The capital of the south-west Namibe province in Angola gained Wednesday a fishing centre to benefit over five hundred women who deal in fishing and salt production.

The director of the National Infrastructures of Fishing Industry, Zezalina Costa, who announced the fact, said that the construction of the project started in March 2012 and ended in the same year.

According to him, the project is part of the effort to improve, process, distribute and sale of fish and iodised salt.

Zezalina Costa said the project comprises two components serving, in the first phase to support the artisan fishery, and the second support the manufacture of traditional industries.

The minister of Fisheries said that the centre will contribute to the best use of fishing resources, increase the quality of the product for trade and generate more family revenues.
