Six new residential schools have been sanctioned for fishermen’s children in the State in addition to existing four residential schools. At present four schools are running and out of them three for boys and one for girls. Boys’ schools are functioning at Satyavedu in Chittoor, Amalapuram in East Godavari, Mopidevi in Krishna district and girls school at Golagamudi in Nellore district. With an aim to provide quality education to fishermen kids in all the coastal districts, the State government has sanctioned six more residential schools. Of the total sanctioned six schools, three for boys and three for girls. Boys residential schools have been proposed in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari districts, girls schools are proposed in Guntur, Prakasam and Visakhapatnam. For each residential school 44 employees are required in both the teaching and non-teaching wings.
