Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture Prattipati Pulla Rao said the State Government would extend insurance cover to the fishermen community in the state. Pulla Rao said that the fisheries department would attract Rs. 16,000 crore foreign direct investments. He said that in the coming fiscal, the fisheries production would touch 27 lakh metric tonnes. He said that the state government has appealed the Centre to treat fisheries on par with the agri-sector and extend necessary benefits. The minister along with other minister D. Umamaheswar Rao and others were on a visit to Nellore district.
