On 25/07/2016, 06 fishermen were apprehended for indulging in fishing activities in the Jarawa Reserve Area near Hiren Tikery by the Joint Patrolling Team of A & N Police, Forest & AAJVS staff and arrested U/s 7/8 of PAT Regulation 1956, namely (1) B. Ravi (28)yrs, (2) Ganta Guna Rao (28) yrs, (3) V. Jaganadhan (33) yrs, (4) C.H. Yerraiah (50) yrs, (5) K. Venkatesh (35) yrs and (6) B. Suryanarayan (24) yrs, all R/o Junglighat who were indulging in fishing. They could not produce any Permit/License to enter into the Jarawa Reserve Area. Their wooden fishing boat fitted with two No. 14HP Kirloskar engine dinghy bearing Reg. No IND-AN-SA-MO-642 MV LAILA, two Nos. oars dinghy bearing Reg. No ANB-TC-SA-243 and No. ANB-TC-SA-875 respectively and other articles were also seized and a case under the aforesaid law has been registered at PS Ograbraj and the investigation of the case is in progress. Fishermen and game fishing operators are hereby cautioned not to venture into the restricted reserve forest area failing which, stringent action will be taken against them. They are also advised to never establish any contact with the aboriginal tribes. Similarly the inhabitants of villages near the Jarawa Reserve areas are also cautioned not to indulge in any kind of barter with the Jarawa tribe. Andaman & Nicobar Police remains ever vigilant towards the protection of aboriginal tribes and will ensure prompt action against any default.
