The Department of Fisheries has asked the owners or persons in-charge of sport/game fishing vessels not to use or allow their fishing vessels to be used for any activity other than fishing sport/game. The advisory has been issued as it has been notice that fishing vessels registered under A&N Islands Marine Fishing Rules – 2004 with the authorized officer, South Andaman are being used for activities not connected with sport fishing i.e. carrying of passengers or guests for scuba diving/ snorkelling and other activities. The Fisheries Department has informed that Sport/Game fishing vessels registered under the A&N Marine Fishing Regulation – 2003 cannot be engaged or utilized for any activities which are not connected with fishing. As such, the owners or persons in-charge of sport/game fishing vessels have been advised not to use or allow their fishing vessels to be used for any activity other than fishing, failing which action will be initiated as per provisions of A&N Marine Fishing Regulation and Rules framed there under to deregistered their boats and cancellation of the fishing license.
