The Director of Fisheries Shri. J Chandrasekhar along with Assistant Director of Fisheries, South Andaman visited Have lock on 16th April, 2016 to take stock of issues/problems faced by the fishers. A Fisher Baithak’ was organized in the Community Hall of Govind Nagar Gram Panchayat. In his address, the Director of Fisheries highlighted about ongoing schemes of the Department and activities devolved to the three tiers of PRIs. The Fishers were also briefed about the proposed Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programmes under various subsidy schemes of the Department. Various issues/ problems were brought to the notice of Department by the PRI representatives and fishers. The meeting was attended by PRI members and large number of fishers of Have lock Island. After the meeting, the Director of Fisheries along with PRI members and local fishers visited the sites identified for the Development of Fish Landing Center at Govind Nagar and Shyam Nagar.
