Cristobal blamed for $5.2 million in damage on Mississippi coast June 11,2020   |  Source: WAPT

Tropical Storm Cristobal is blamed for about $5.2 million in damage to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The initial assessment for the damage in Harrison and Hancock counties was announced Wednesday — the same day Gov. Tate Reeves signed a state of emergency in response to the storm. Damage assessments are ongoing.

Cristobal made landfall along the Louisiana coast Sunday evening and brought heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge to the Mississippi coast, officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said.

A state of emergency authorizes the use of state resources to help in response and recovery efforts.
