Focus Areas

Export All |
Much has been written about biological and technical aspects of marine protected area (MPA) implementation. However, there has been relatively little focus on social aspects of MPA implementation, integral to the success and effectiveness of any conservation and management initiative. This "focus area" section intends to address this shortcoming, by putting together an annotated bibliography, searchable by theme, region, keyword, author and title (by clicking on the Search link above) on social aspects of MPA implementation.

The first two themes being put up deal with Social Issues in MPAs and Women and Resources Management. The work on improving the content and usefulness of this resource will be ongoing and more themes will be developed subsequently, based on reader feedback. We, therefore, invite you to send us your feedback and suggestions. We also invite you to inform us about important and interesting documents on MPAs that can be included under this resource.
