SAMUDRA News Alerts is a free service designed
to deliver news on fisheries, fishing and coastal communities,
aquaculture and related issues, on a daily or weekly digest basis, in
plain-text or HTML format, and also as an RSS newsfeed.
The service often features exclusive, original
stories on small-scale and artisanal fisheries, particularly in the
regions of the developing South, and also on issues that deal with
gender and women in fisheries; labour and working conditions; safety at
sea; illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; child labour;
and trade in fisheries goods, among others.
Apart
from news, stories and analysis on fisheries, the service also focuses
on environmental and oceans issues. After the December 2004 Indian
Ocean tsunami tragedy and the Hurricane Katrina devastation in the
United States, the news service has carried updates on the
tragedies, and the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the affected countries.
The ICSF website has archives of all past news items
carried by the SAMUDRA News Alerts service as well as all issues of
ICSF's triannual journal, SAMUDRA Report, and several other documents
and resources that might interest you. We would be very happy to get
feedback and suggestions on the news service and the website. You can
email us at icsf@icsf.net or use the Feedback form.
